Schedule

Team Lick Cancer Schedule for PMC Weekend 2020

This is generally the schedule for the 2 day ride from Sturbridge to the Provincetown Inn, returning on the 3:00pm Party Ferry. If you're starting from Wellesley, doing a 1 day ride, or taking a different ferry or bus home, your schedule will vary. This is an attempt to hit as many elements so you're not caught unaware. Also, refer to the PMC handbook for additional specifics and schedules. Feel free to ask questions of any veteran rider, we're all in this together.
Friday, July 31st

12:00pm - Pack the trucks and buses |
Dave's House - 190 Pope Rd, Acton, MA 01720
Bring your bike, your gear, yourself, and get it on the bus. Prepare to help load, pack, and roll. You can't park at Dave's house, so carpool or get dropped off.

1:00pm - Trucks and buses leave for Sturbridge
Don't be late. Also, feel free to bring snacks, wear team lick gear, and begin hydrating for the weekend ahead.

3:00pm(ish) - Buses arrive in Sturbridge |  Sturbridge Host Hotel - 366 Main St, Sturbridge, MA
Unload your bike and get it on a rack, unload your bag and get it on the bus going to your hotel, then register and pick up your PMC gear inside the hotel. There is an expo inside, bike mechanics at the ready, and a lot of food out behind the hotel. From here on, the PMC provides food, water, beer, wine, and pretty much whatever you need for the weekend.

We sell and apply Team Lick Cancer temporary tattoos during this time and rookies should expect to help out. We will be easy to find, as we set up somewhere in the back by the food tent. Tattoos are $1 and, unless a specific location is requested, go on the "passing leg" (aka the right calf).

Pro Tip: This is a good time to put your name tags on your bike and fill your water bottles.

5:15pm - Opening Ceremonies (6:15pm in Wellesley)
This is a good thing to take in if you're new to the PMC. The televised ceremonies feature inspirational stories from unbelievable speakers, and it helps remind you what the PMC is all about. It can get a bit long though…And hot...

Pending the PMC Shuttle Schedule - Leave for your hotel
If you want to ditch out on the opening ceremonies, head to your hotel and grab a rack. Team Lick busses will not be shuttling people to the Scottish or any hotels.  Use the PMC Shuttles for all your transportation needs.  Or UBER, thats always an option, too.

Saturday, August 2nd

3:30am - Wake up and embrace the day!

4:00am - Buses and Shuttles leave for the Host Hotel
Be dressed in your PMC jersey, and all your cycling gear. There will be PMC shuttle busses at all Sturbridge area hotels so get on one of them.  When you arrive at the Host Hotel, you'll put your bag on a truck to Bourne, and will only have what you need for the ride. Go inside and grab some breakfast in the Host Hotel.

Pro tip: Now is a good time to park your bike in one of the start corrals - the further forward the better.

5:15am - National Anthem and announcements

5:30am - Start your pedals moving and go (7:00am for those in Swellesley…) | Sturbridge Host Hotel
Saturday is a day for you to ride with your friends and go at your own pace. Finish first, finish last, whatever, just look good doing it. Best to find someone who has a similar pace and stick with them all day. Also since everyone will be wearing the same jersey, you'll lose people very easily.

11:00am - 3:00pm - or whenever - Finish Day 1 |  Mass Maritime Academy - 101 Academy Dr, Buzzards Bay, MA
Park your bike on a rack, fill your bottles for Sunday, grab your Garmin, and walk to the main campus. When there, grab a beer, some food, and a shower. Get settled into your room or tent, and come find the team. We typically hang out just outside the main tent on the field near the massage area. Wear a Team Lick t-shirt as team photos will be at 4:45pm.

Pro tip: schedule your massage immediately upon entering the main campus. The slots fill up and a free massage is a good thing.

4:30pm - Gather for team photo by the flag pole

6:00pm - Living Proof photos by the flag pole
The Living Proof photo is a collection of cancer survivors who are riding or volunteering at the event.

8:00pm - Bedtime (if you make it that long…)

Sunday, August 3rd

3:30am - Wake up and ice your butt | Mass Maritime Academy
The main tent will be set up for breakfast and will be serving coffee. Bring your bag, put it on the appropriate truck, and get some food. Be dressed in your Team Lick Cancer kit, and all your cycling gear - including shoes.

5:00am - Start riding
Don't be late. Team Lick will be rolling out of MMA at 5:00am sharp. We leave as a group, it is still dark, but an early start is key. Factor in a 10 minute walk from the food tent to the bike racks in your commute.

On Sunday, we all ride as a team. We start early, go over the bridge, ride up the canal, and cruise along at a conversational pace. We are on busy Cape Cod roads, bike paths, in neighborhoods, and on Rte. 6 for a bit, so pay attention to your surroundings since none of these roads are closed.

Pro tip: Peanut butter, fluff, and banana sandwiches will give you the energy you need to get from one rest stop to the next.

12:00am(ish) - Finish Day 2 | Provincetown Inn - 1 Commercial St, Provincetown, MA
For those finishing at the P-Town Inn, we all regroup about 5 miles from the P-Town Inn so we can finish as a team, singing our song, and hooting and hollering. If you're going to the Family Finish, this is where you split off. At the P-Town Inn, we load our bikes onto trucks, all walk out on the jetty for a team photo, and if the tide is right, a swim.

Then, hunt down your bag and take a horribly awful shower, trying not to touch naked butts with other people. After that you get dressed, load your bag back onto a truck, and eat some food, as this is the last opportunity for free food and beer.

1:00pm - Head for the Ferry
If you're taking the 3:00pm "Party Ferry" back to Boston, we leave the P-Town Inn and walk about a mile to the ferry terminal - hitting a few bars on the way. Depending on the weather, you may want a light jacket since it can be chilly on the boat.

Pro tip: Bayside Betsy's serves mojitos, and you can call ahead to have them ready (508) 487-6566.

3:00pm - Party Ferry departs for Boston |  Provincetown Ferry Terminal - 24 MacMillan Pier, Provincetown, MA
Fast boats launch on different schedules, so factor your own logistics here, but the important ferry leaves at 3:00pm. This is a party, so grab a RedBull and your dancing shoes, because the band will play, tattooing will continue, and celebrations will just.not.end. Expect tequila and nip bottle hacky sack. A rule: What happens on the boat stays on the boat.

Pro tip: Bring cash for beers and wear a hat.

6:30pm - The Party Ferry arrives and we unload | Black Falcon Ferry Terminal - 1 Black Falcon Ave, Boston, MA
Team Lick buses will be there to drive you, your bike, and your gear back to Dave's house. Find your bag, and double check that your bike has made it to the truck. Get on a bus.

8:00pm(ish) - We arrive back at Dave's | Dave's House
All buses and trucks roll into Dave's and we will try not to disturb the neighbors. There will be lots of high-fives, and hugs, and you'll be completely done, so have someone come pick you and all your gear up. Speaking for Dave, please take all your crap and bikes so he doesn't have to deal with it. Feel free to also clean empties out of the buses, too.
